By Geoff Ringwald
Yeast infection is one of the most common types of infections found in women. The infection can grow in any part of a woman's body, but the most usual part that it grows in is on the vagina, which in medical terms is called Vaginitis. So the most common question women have is how to get rid of vaginal yeast infection?

Vaginal yeast infection is caused by a fungus called candida albicans. This fungus is triggered by an imbalance in a woman's body. For women, even your monthly periods can cause the infection. How do you know that you have vaginal yeast infection? Well, for starters the usual symptoms are redness of the vagina, swelling, vaginal itching, vaginal douche, vaginal odor. If you do not treat the infection immediately, it can even cause painful urination, painful sexual intercourse and even depression.

Even though the illness sounds really bad, it is curable. You can use natural home remedies that can remove the root cause of the problem.

One natural cure you can use is Garlic. Garlic is not only used as a spice, you can actually use it for the infection. Garlic is known for its antiseptic properties, it can suck out the fungus that causes the infection. You can grind the garlic onto a paste and apply it directly to the infected area.

Another one you can use is Yogurt. Yogurt has a lot of good bacteria that fights of the infection; it brings back your body's natural balance and helps fight off the infection. You can eat a lot of yogurt or you can apply it directly to the infection.

The above are just some of the many natural cures you can use for your Vaginitis.

Now Pay Close Attention

Most medications only mask the infection and never really cure it, you need something that will remove the cause of the infection from the inside and return your body's natural balance.

Restorative Yoga

By Elizabeth Henshall
Restorative Yoga goes beyond remedial yoga. It is the pathway to a very deep and profound self healing. Remedial Yoga works with people who have had specific injuries and helps them rebuild the function where the injury was whilst keeping the rest of their body mobilised. Restorative Yoga is also for people who have been ill or injured and are in their recovery period - but very specifically it is for people who are highly stressed and recognise that their levels of stress are affecting their body and their health badly.

A typical example of someone who would benefit from Restorative Yoga is a person who is becoming burnt out through their lifestyle and the particular demands it has. They probably would have been chronically stressed for some time and their bodies will be giving a lot of signals saying that it is getting too tired and depleted to carry on like this. They may have been told they have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, ME or fibromyalgia and warned against the perils of carrying on their current lifestyle.

As the body moves into this chronic state of stress and the systems such as the digestive system, the immune system and the cardio vascular system get more and more overloaded they stop working well. Bit by bit the person finds that they have a whole series of small health problems which then escalate into something more serious. For example, Angela got divorced 6 years ago and because she had to work so hard to try to keep up payments on her mortgage she was constantly worried and scared - but also physically tired running a job, seeing to her children and grandchild and keeping the house and garden under control. A couple of years later her mother became ill and needed nursing and attention and Angela found the energy from somewhere to give her mother the support she needed. However that was when she had her first asthma attack. After that she was always a bit worried that she would have another one and noticed that she quite often felt dizzy. Her doctor told her she needed to take it easier but that seemed out of the question to Angela given what was happening in her life. The following year she caught a very bad cold and that turned to bronchitis. Leaving her weak and ever more fatigued she then caught a series of flu viruses throughout that winter and the next. In summer she tended to feel better but as soon as winter began she would start to feel low and ill. She began to notice that she was sensitive to wheat and that her tummy didn't quite cope with eating late at night or very spicy dishes anymore. It just seemed to struggle to cope with whatever she put in it. Her energy got even lower and her spirits just wouldn't lift as she looked forward to a life of coping and struggling against feeling so poorly. Her doctor told her she was depressed and prescribed antidepressants for her. She also discovered that her blood pressure was higher than it had ever been before and was warning her like the red light flashing on the dashboard of the car - her petrol was about to run out!

Angela hated taking the anti-depression medication and really wanted to do something to help herself. This was when she came across Restorative Yoga and also began to see a herbal specialist who gave her some gentle natural remedies to support her very tired body and weakened systems as she did her new yoga practice. Restorative Yoga enabled her body to find a place of rest and balance again. For a short time every week Angela let her body be supported and very gently put into positions that opened her rib cage, stretched her spine and eased her digestive system. She learnt how to mediate while she was resting in the various poses that were right for her body. She also learnt how to breathe fully, yet gently, using all her lung capacity. Her body, which had been deprived of enough oxygen for so long with her shallow breathing pattern, responded very quickly as it absorbed the vital energy in the air. Her skin tone improved, her digestion strengthened and her heart rate calmed down as her body's nervous system realised that it didn't have to be in fight or flight mode every day. She taught her body that sometimes it is OK to be working at high gear - but when that time is over it is time to go back to a balanced state of mind and body.

Angela is one of many people who have found their way back to health through practicing Restorative Yoga and allowing the body to find its own 'inner healer'. Talk to your Yoga teacher or have a look for a specialist in Restorative Yoga near you if you recognise yourself in Angela's story. Your body will love you for it!

Yoga (A Secret Towards a Healthy Life)

By Stanley Braverman
Yoga has been around and practiced for centuries. There is scientific proof that practicing Yoga relieves stress and tones the body. Stress can be extremely detrimental to both emotional and physical health. Yoga when practiced correctly can release stress and implement techniques to control the onset of stress resulting in improved mental and physical health.

Yoga is actually more beneficial than traditional Western exercises because it addresses not only muscle tone and cardiac exercise but all around wellness. Yoga does not only focus on one particular area of the body, but combines many poses or postures through out the routine to target all areas of the body.

Here is a list of benefits that practicing Yoga will provide.

1. Yoga focuses on a number of poses or postures these poses or postures work muscles and joints that are not typically targeted by Western exercise techniques. Muscles are gently stretched and toned over time. There is an all over body benefit! Yoga is a series of low impact exercises that will not jolt the joints the way other forms of exercise does. It is safer than most exercises in that it does not push the body, but gently molds the body through stretching and kinetics.

2. Yoga stretches and excites muscles, joints and ligaments that respond by delivering additional productivity. The joints become more limber, the muscles more toned and the ligaments are stretched and challenged gently increasing elasticity.

3. Part of the correct Yoga practice is the breathing. Yogic breathing releases stress and supply the body with the necessary blood flow. Meditation and proper breathing techniques open up both the mind and the body to feel good endorphins. The practice is relaxing yet the body is worked out, and the results are magnificent.

4. Yoga is focused on all around well being. The breathing techniques and the poses are geared toward releasing negative energy while stretching the body gently. These movements combined with the breathing techniques actually reduce stress to the maximum and can actually reduce the chance of becoming ill from stress related disease. The Yoga breathing exercised open up the lungs and airways and helps the body to remove toxins from the system by delivering healthy blood flow through out the body.

5. Yoga is a lifestyle and a system of beliefs. It is far beyond an exercise routine although some people choose only to incorporate that part of the Yoga system into their lives which is fine, but Yoga incorporates not only exercise, meditation and even philosophical views, all geared at providing all around good health

6. Yoga is a great strengthening tool; by stretching the body gently the muscles are challenged and respond by becoming stronger. The blood flow to the muscles is assisted by the breathing exercises that accompany the Yoga poses.

Yoga provides the body with increased strength, mind clearing breathing and with positive lifestyle options. It is a low impact exercise routine that can be mastered by anyone of any age. It is the perfect way to get in shape and stay stress free!
