Here's Medicines Can Be Damaging the KIDNEY

If you often feel dizzy, headache or back pain, you should not carelessly take the free drugs sold in the market, because some drugs can damage kidney function. Any medication?

"Do not indiscriminate taking medication, especially if you are the people who have a high risk of experiencing kidney disease. Some drugs are nephrotoxic or disrupt kidney function," said dr. Dharmeizar, SpPD-KGH from Kidney-Hypertension Division, Department of Medicine RSCM.

Here are some of nephrotoxic drugs alias damage the kidneys as delivered by dr. Dharmeizar, namely:

1. Aminoglycosides
2. NSAIDs (Non-Steroid Anti-Inflammatory)
3. Radiographic contrast agent
4. Analgesics (painkillers)
5. Some herbal stiff and rheumatic
6. Some herbal slimming

"The drugs have analgesic or pain killer direct effect on the kidneys, causing direct damage. So do not carelessly take medication pain killer," said dr. Dharmeizar.

dr. Dharmeizar also explained that should not carelessly take medication if headache or feel dizzy, too, if not necessary, should avoid the vitamin excessive drinking.

"A headache that's caused a lot of, can hurt your teeth, minus the eye increases, so do not just take the medicine but look for the cause," he explained.

And about vitamins, dr. Dharmeizar explains that vitamins should only be given to people who had just recovered from illness or because of low body immunity.

"If you eat 3 meals a day with enough carbohydrates, minerals, fiber and other nutrient content, the actual vitamin was not necessary. The content of vitamin already exist in the food," said dr. Dharmeizar.

And dr. Dharmeizar also warned, many people are misguided about the drugs that are obliged in a lifetime drinking by people with hypertension (high blood pressure) and cholesterol. According to him, the drugs used for life even safer because it is not nephrotoxic alias does not damage the kidneys.

"Many people are misguided, many patients with hypertension or high cholesterol who are afraid to take medication for fear that the drug can damage the kidneys. When in fact it's safe drugs given to kidney, even if they do not drink it that damage the kidneys is hypertension itself," explained dr. Dharmeizar.

Fruits and Vegetables Can Lower Blood Pressure

Here are some fruits and vegetables that may lower the high blood pressure,
as reported by LIVESTRONG on Sunday (20/03/2011), among others:

1. Bit Fruits
Research conducted scientists from Barts and London Medical School and Queen Mary University of London shows drinking beet juice can lower blood pressure. This is because the Bit fruits contain nitrates that can help lower blood pressure.

Mechanism of action of what happens is inorganic nitrate levels in the bit fruits will be converted into nitric oxide gas when eaten. This gas will make blood vessels open and relaxed, so that the person's blood pressure to fall. However, this effect is more clearly seen in men compared with women.

2. Spinach
Folate, which is soluble B vitamin found in spinach and broccoli can also lower blood pressure. Scientists from the Policlinico in Modena, Italy, explored the effects of folate on blood pressure in menopausal women.

Participants received 15 mg folate or placebo for three weeks. The scientists reported in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition that folate group experienced significant reductions in blood pressure compared with the placebo group.

3. Citrus fruit
A study reported in the journal Hypertension April 2005 edition. Scientists from St. George's Medical School in London examined the effects of potassium citrate found in bananas and citrus fruits, and potassium chloride from supplements. Scientists found that both forms of potassium are effective in lowering blood pressure for patients with stage 1 hypertension.

4. Banana
The findings reported in the journal Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases in December 2009 to investigate the effects of magnesium supplementation in adults who are overweight.

Researchers found that participants with systolic blood pressure greater than 140 and diastolic pressures between 90 and 99 by eating magnesium 300 mg for 12 weeks, decreased blood pressure compared with placebo. Magnesium is widely available on bananas, apples, oranges and pears.

Extraordinary Slimming Power of Coconuts

by Russell Eaton
Discover amazing facts about coconut oil. The latest scientific research is showing that coconut fat is not at all fattening. Now you can enjoy delicious coconut recipes that help you lose weight. This article explains why coconut oil is not fattening due to its unique molecular structure.

In fact, modern research shows coconuts to be a valuable source of healthy nutrition. About a third of the white coconut flesh is fat, and although most of this fat (90%) is technically classed as saturated it is mostly made up of MCFA's (medium chain fatty acids). MCFA's are chains of molecules that are burnt up as energy rather than being stored as body fat. Because of this, coconut oil/fat is increasingly used in weight-loss regimes. Note: MCFA's are also known as MCT's (medium chain triglycerides).

About half of these MCFA's consist of lauric acid, the most important essential fatty acid in building and maintaining the body's immune system. Apart from coconuts, the only other source of lauric acid found in such high concentrations is human breast milk.

Coconuts provide important antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiprotozoal properties that make up the building blocks of a healthy immune system. More importantly, they are nature's richest source of super-healthy MCFA's. In research, coconut oil that has been kept at room temperature for a year has then been tested for rancidity without showing any evidence of it because of its antimicrobial properties.

Many scientific studies show that the fatty acids from MCFA's in coconut oil are not easily converted and stored as triglycerides (fatty tissue). Also, the research shows that MCFA's cannot be easily used by the body to make the larger fat molecules that make up the surplus fat in our bodies. One study concluded that "the change from a low-fat diet to a MCFA diet is attended by a decrease in the body weight gain" [Hill JO, et al, Thermogenesis in humans during overfeeding with medium-chain triglycerides, Metabolism, July 1989;38,7: 641-8].

In another study by the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, McGill University, Canada, the effects of diets rich in medium-chain and long-chain fats were assessed in overweight men. The study concluded that "Consumption of a diet rich in medium-chain fatty acids results in greater loss of stored body fat compared with long-chain fatty acids" [source: St-Onge MP, et al, Medium-chain triglycerides increase energy expenditure and decrease adiposity in overweight men, Obes Res. 2003 Mar;11(3):395-402].

Another study compared metabolic rates in the human body (i.e. the rate at which calories are burnt up). The study compared meals with MCFA's and LCFA's (long-chain fatty acids found in animal fats). The authors concluded that replacing dietary fats with MCFA's could "over long periods of time produce weight loss even in the absence of reduced [caloric] intake" [source: T. B. Seaton, et al, Thermic effects of medium-chain and long-chain triglycerides in man, Am J Clin Nutr, 1986;44:630-634].

There is no shortage of research showing that MCFA's in coconuts are not fattening and that MCFA's are much less prone to being stored as body fat compared to LCFA's (the long chain fatty acids found in animal foods and dairy products). Note also that the Glycemic Index ratings for coconuts and tinned coconut milk are low (45 and 41 respectively), showing that coconuts are non-fattening in terms of blood glucose and body-fat storage. This is why you can adopt a coconut oil weight loss plan and lose excess body fat quickly and permanently.
